ImpacTrip, a socially-driven travel agency, just launched alternative experiences to discover Portugal in a more responsible way. It offers travelers the enjoyment of the sun, beach, and good food allowing them to create a positive social and environmental impact.
After a 1 month solo trip in Southeast Asia, Rita Marques, one of the founders, thought that the well-known concept of volunteer Tourism in Asia also made sense in her country. The excitement of meeting awesome people, travelling thought incredible places and dedicating time to help the local communities is put together in an unforgettable experience in Europe. Based on partnerships with local social organisations, impacTrip has developed programs that truly benefit local communities.
Diving to clean the Atlantic Ocean, sailing along the Mediterranean coast to help institutionalized children, visiting Lisbon guided by a trained homeless, camping in a river island or relaxing in a fairy tale-like rural village while supporting disabled people in their therapies: these are only some examples of the volunteer tourism experiences impacTrip offers.
The most recent investment that impacTrip has raised was through the Portuguese version of the well-known TV show – Shark Thank. Susana Sequeira, founder and Creative Director of MSTF Partners, after listening to impacTrip’s pitch decided to invest 32k € (in services) in exchange of 10% of quota in the company.
The website was launched this week, on the 23th of June and was the first step to spread this new concept and to change the way people travel. Expanding to other destinations in Europe is the next step.
